Abstract

Our understanding or the dynamics of pedestrians and human crowds

has been much improved in recent years, not at least through the

adoption of concepts and methods from physics. In the presentation,

a review of recent developments will be given. One focus will be an

attempt to classify the dynamics of crowds through dimensionless

numbers, inspired by the Reynolds number for classical fluids.
