Elementary particle physics

Researchers in experimental elementary particle physics are using the ATLAS and CMS detectors at CERN's Large Hadron Collider to investigate the properties of the top quark, the heaviest known elementary particle, and are searching for fundamentally new interactions. In addition to analysing data, the researchers are also working on the construction of the new inner track detectors for the high-luminosity phase of the Large Hadron Collider, which will begin in 2030.
