Medical imaging
We study the nerve fiber architecture of the brain and the resulting structural connectivity (neuronal networks). To do this, we need microscopic imaging techniques, efficient image and signal processing algorithms, and high-performance computers. We are also developing new methods for modeling brain tissue and simulations of microscope measurements to fundamentally complement experimental data. The combined use of these interdisciplinary topics enables the creation of unique brain atlases of different species.
